When my old Ryobi 18V drill/driver gave up the ghost recently (in fairness it was never great) I decided to treat myself to a DeWalt. It can drill up to a whopping 55mm in wood and contains a brushless motor for the highest power output. While I can't speak to the quality of them all, I don't think most would go wrong with any of the larger names like Dewalt, Makita, Bosch Blue etc. Got a fair heap of stuff now, was using the die grinder for hours today, what a great tool and remarkably easy on the battery.

The DeWalt set has 4ah rather than 5ah batteries, but the tools look a little higher spec than the Makita ones. In this guide, we’ll shortlist a few of our favourite combi drills from Dewalt to suit most budgets. Heat dispersion offered by the aluminium front housing increases motor life and the drop-in keyless hex driver allows for quick, one-handed fitment. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. This is a replacement for an older model that was stolen, very well built drill, very comfortable to use,I use it every day. Two top tools for twice the performance – this DeWalt twin pack equips you to take on all kinds of drilling or driving tasks with speed, power and precision. This is a UK and ROI specific subreddit, r/DIY has a lot of US Specific content, things like products to use, where to get them, laws and codes that don't apply to the UK. The item has been professionally refurbished/repaired and may show minor cosmetic marks and/or scratches through previous use.

A little bit of Googling suggests that the mosfet has gone to lunch so it looks to be an issue with that model drill. But the OP didn't ask for an impact driver, and from the style of his post, doesn't want or need one. Read more about the condition New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging is applicable). I have the 18v versions as well for larger tasks or drilling into brickwork that doesn't require an SDS. I also used the hammer setting for drilling into bricks to put up some battens and it made light work of that too.I don't use my pneumatic die grinders unless I absolutely have to now, the DeWalt one is so good it just doesn't kick at all because it doesn't bog down no matter how hard you push. The DeWalt range is impressive, no question, and this drill reflected it – sturdy, well packaged and obviously made for the professional. The unfortunate thing with many trustpilot reviews especially for a brand like that and rather a retailer is its either trolls or someone whos had a negative experience and you wont be seeing those that have had a good experience. They mention that it's a quality powertool for professional use, has a great battery life and that it does every job with ease. I spoke to roofers recently who told me they'd switched from Makita to Dewalt as new DeWalt is "better by a mile".

Having been assured by these reports that this issue doesn't affect the performance of the drill I decided to hang onto it and see how it performed.from all my years out on building sites to now being a caretaker DeWalt get my vote, great value for money, if I couldn't have DeWalt I would go for Makita, but that's because they are the two brands I've known best for the best part of 15 years. I know world has gone 700ah battery crazy but the reality is 4ah is perfectly fine for these kind of tools as is a 2ah. Many of these sellers list kits that are slightly different in spec or model number which makes the whole thing a minefield.
