Assassin's Quest (The Farseer Trilogy - Book 3): 3/3
About this deal
Robin Hobb is the author of three well-received fantasy trilogies: The Farseer Trilogy (Assassin’s Apprentice, Royal Assassin, and Assassin’s Quest), The Liveship Traders Trilogy (Ship of Magic, Mad Ship and Ship of Destiny) and the Tawny Man Trilogy (Fool’s Errand, Golden Fool, and Fool’s Fate) Her current work in progress is entitled Shaman’s Crossing. You can see each one coming long before it happens, rendering the book amazingly predictable, and every time Fitz managed a miraculous escape, mostly through sheer luck. I think I forgot to mention this in my reviews of the previous two books, but I’ve always thought he was absolutely hilarious, and I love his mysterious airs. I understand that the changes began occurring in book two, and there has always been an undercurrent of magic in the books, but before AQ, it was always a subtle magic that was not so in your face. I was beyond excited to find out how it ends, so obviously, now that I know, I need to put down my thoughts for posterity 🤗 Because even though I’m not the biggest fan of writing reviews, I do love going back and reading them, as well as seeing all of your thoughts in the comments!
Titled Странствия убийцы, published by Азбука in 2017 with ISBN 9785389113985 and the new Jackie Morris cover.pages later, Skill the shit out of everything, or Fitz said “I must not Skill, it’s dangerous” 1 page later, Skill the shit out of everything.
So a 2 star from me means, yes, I liked the book, and I'd loan it to a friend and it went everywhere in my jacket pocket or purse until I finished it. Scheduled to be published in the UK by HarperVoyager on the 24th of June 2021 with ISBN 9780008489816.The trilogy weighs in at over 2,000 pages and is as rewarding and enjoyable a read as I have experienced for some time. It is a shame because while the story is about Fitz, there are important side characters that have been built up over the previous books, and now don't get the storytelling they deserve, especially considering this is the finale. It was painful and sad to see Verity like that, especially because he was one of my favourite characters and I always hoped that he’d actually become the king of the Six Duchies and would live a long and nice life with Kettricken. The Farseer Trilogy is a must read for fantasy lovers, characters, setting and storyline all excellently written.
FitzChivalry Farseer has been raised from death, but spends months with the mind of a wolf after his time sharing minds with Nighteyes. Also, Hap seems really interesting, so I hope we’ll learn more about him in Robin Hobb’s other books. I mean, I guess Verity being a dragon now is kind of sad, but Fitz and Friends still seemed to get their kingdom back with very little sacrifice on their part. A Portuguese translation A fúria do assassino, by Leya Brasil in 2014 with ISBN 9788544101063 and cover art from Marc Simonetti. But after falling in love with Royal Assassin, I was hoping for something a bit more satisfying from Assassin's Quest. Her initial works were published in small press 'fanzines' such as Space and Time (editor Gordon Linzner).
