Description

I'll stick to whisky as I don't prefer the extra sweetness personally, but I'd recommend anyone to try this. In 1747 the property passed into the hands of John Sober, who appointed Sir John Gay Alleyne as manager. It turns up the initial profile a bit, it’s adding a layer of more floral/herbal notes and it balances the rum overall, but because of the lack of contrast, the spiciness of MGDCB doesn’t stand out as much. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults.

For a person who loves great rum, a personalised bottle of Mount Gay Black Barrel Double Cask Blend is certain to make a great gift. Released in celebration of the brand's 311-year history, Mount Gay Black Barrel Rum reinforces the craft, refinement, and unparalleled excellence at Mount Gay since 1703.If you do require precise ingredient information you should consult the manufacturer, whose contact details will appear on the packaging or label.

Presumably the blend isn’t the same as I’ve been told this would contain a higher ratio of pot still distillate than the standard expression. The first-class Black Barrel Rum by Mount Gay from Barbados flows into the brightly polished glass in a strong amber hue. Coriander, basil, pistachios, sweet cherries, red apples, grapefruit zest, vanilla, canned peaches, raspberries and marmalade. On the palate showcases overripe fruit, baked banana and light tropical fruit with more oak presence and tobacco. Although it is made from single column and double pot distilled rum, just like other Mount Gay rums, Black Barrel uses a higher proportion of double pot distillates.

It's been painful to watch the likes of gin and vodka being raved about so much, whisky is always at the top of the tree and yet rum seems to be the poor relation within the spirit family. While I do like the flavour profile of MGBB – young Barbadian rum spiced up by a heavily charred barrel, the MGDCB is definitely more complex.

Following that it looks like Trudiann didn’t waste any time with the release of the new Mount Gay Black Barrel Double Cask Blend and Mount Gay XO Triple Cask Blend.Mount Gay Black Barrel Cask Strength is bottled at 66% ABV and available only in Barbados at the Distillery and Visitor Centre in limited quantities.
