However, if the thought of being outdoors and getting wet doesn’t really appeal to you, why not battle it out indoors instead with the best Nerf guns. Or if action isn’t your thing, then the best board games or the best Lego sets might be more up your street. What's the best water gun for adults? More premium options offer an even stronger performance. We've yet to go hands-on with it, but the SpyraTwo has been making waves in recent years (quite literally). Indeed, the company claims that it is the "world's strongest water gun". This is thanks to an electric pump that fires pellets of water rather than the usual stream. Which water gun shoots the farthest? T3 tests water guns by buying them from retailers, filling them with water, and then shooting our friends and family with jets of H2O. I am the Labs Manager for CNET's Home Division based in Louisville, KY. My interest in technology began in the early '90s, and soon after I began my double major in computer science and computer engineering. I've worked in many areas, including computer hardware, software, technology, networking, graphic design, instruction, construction, music and even ballroom dancing!

Water gel/bullet guns, aka soft gel guns shoot small biodegradable polymer water beads. The beads start out small and dry but before use, you soak them in water so they expand in size to be loaded into the blasters. Here comes summer, and with it, the latest wave of groundbreaking, splash-making toys. But these electronically enhanced blasters and shooters aren’t the leaky plastic pistols of our childhoods. These are superior soakers—modern bits of water-fighting kit designed specifically with adults in mind. Nerf Super Soaker Soakzooka: This was actually a great product, just not a category winner. Third highest soak factor, and was the only gun to actually shoot farther than its stated claims at 30 feet versus 25. During testing we rate Super Soakers and other water-spewing weaponry on build quality, water capacity, features and range, which we feel are the most important elements to a good water gun. The Super Soaker brand has long been synonymous with summer, water guns and getting super-ly soaked. One important factor in staying in the fight longer is how much water you can carry without having to refill. The Hydra tops our list at 2.1 liters (just over half a gallon) water capacity, which is a third of a liter more than second place (also a Super Soaker), and a whole liter more than the largest capacity of a non-Super Soaker. We're looking especially to see if manufacturer claims prove accurate in the real world, so if a product is advertised on its ability to fire water jets far, but in reality they go just a few meters, we'll tell you. If you're more of a big kid and want, officially, the world's most powerful water gun then you need to buy a SpyraTwo.

If you're determined, you can empty this capacity in under 20 seconds, resulting in the second highest soak factor (CNET's own water gun metric for comparison -- essentially milliliters per second of water expulsion) of 107.11mL/s. Again, third place being also held by Super Soaker, and more than double the soak factor of the next non-Super Soaker unit. What won top soak factor? Keep reading. By way of context, your average water pistol can shoot a distance of 5 to 40 feet. The vast majority tend to fall around the mid-30s, and the bare minimum range we'd recommend is 10 feet unless you're opting for power (as is the case with the Super Soaker Soakzooka) or sheer soaking capability. How much does the most powerful water gun cost? The gun itself is relatively small, but it fits well in most sizes of children’s hands. There is no need to pump the gun ahead of time, as is the case for most other water guns; all you need to do is aim straight at the target and pull the trigger to blast water at your opponent. With a water capacity of 3.3 fluid ounces, ZipFire holds a small amount of water that is ideal for smaller kids. While compact, the gun is tough and durable and will not break when dropped on the floor accidentally.

OK, now we're talking. If you want to bring out the (literal) big guns, Super Soaker has you covered with the appropriately named Soakzooka. This is a bulky blaster for when 'subtle' just won't cut it. For starters, its stated capacity is 1,500mL. I found, however, that the actual capacity is about 30% less -- around 1,000mL. It also came in last place in our distance tests, barely passing 21 feet. But there is one aspect of this blaster that I do quite enjoy. The nozzle is a rotating disc that offers you four different options for spray configuration. There's a single hole nozzle option that offers a standard type water gun spray. You also have both two- and three-hole options that split the spray up, and there's also a flat slot spray option for maximum soak.
