The tool should run, the ground is a redundancy to keep you from getting electrocuted should something in the tool fail, and to provide an outlet for static electricity buildup. As a alternate, I wish they'd at least offer a trade-in or 'amnesty' program for those of us who don't want 18 ga cords. I have a half dozen BRAND NEW, NEVER USED 18 ga. cords that I'd LOVE to swap for 16 ga. ones because I will NEVER use them. And it's not like Festool would have to scrap them? They could ship them with recon machines, or send them out from service if someone needed a cord. They could create a lot of goodwill if this was done properly. Keep collections to yourself or inspire other shoppers! Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections—they may also appear in recommendations and other places. Since almost all Festool tools are equipped with the plug-it system, the cable simply needs to be reconnected. This saves time and removes tripping hazards – one cable instead of a tangle of cables.

If you find an error, PLEASE PM me so I can correct it. I'm not asking you to PM me so I can hide a mistake or avoid being embarrassed. I'd simply prefer to make any necessary corrections in this initial post and keep discussions about errors or corrections out of the thread to avoid confusion as people read this in the future. With most double insulated tools (only two wires no earth lead) they are usually also fitted with a double pole switch which switches both wires and it really doesn't matter which wire goes to active. heres a new Projekt. ...It is a Box for a Slide Conversion Kit. Made with PLA (Box) and TPU (Buffers). Wires inside double insulated powertools don't have to follow the same rules as set for the mains net ( I think). It's the plug it repair fitting that lets you repair existing cords. I'm hoping to make one short cord for my CMS table and repair a cord that has Guerrilla guard and shrink tape on it (home made plug it hose). As a temporary fix, couldn't you run a short 3plug extension from the CT so you could have multiple things connected to the vac? This ensures a much better electrical connection than you could get just clamping down on bare copper strands.

NOTE: I'm no expert on Deros sanders but I'm sure I read somewhere that it's a standard IEC connector; please don't take my word for it though) The problem I've got is I can't see a way to get the wires out of the plug-it kit (see the picture below) they won't pull out and I've tried tapping the pins on the other side but no joy? Here is a Lerdge X Conversion Kit for Flying Bear Ghost 4S. I guess it can be used for other printers also.Quote from: Marshall Monnett on November 28, 2014, 10:02 PM Thanks for all the great information, I have wanted to change some of my dewalt and porter cable tools to plug it ends, and this information helps greatly. But i do have one question. If it had been "possible" I would have done it. I am not saying it is impossible though, but it would require a lot of work. This is a conversion kit to make a deimos rhino, not a full model. The side panels are divided in two pieces because I find it's easier to fit them on the actual model this way taking expansion into consideration. Samo Not sure if this is what you are looking for don't have part number but hopefully the pics will help

My understanding (and I could be wrong), is the two choices are 16awg and 18awg. That is what I walked away with after reading the link above: BTW - I am NOT an expert on German culture, but I have had enough business dealings with them to understand some things.) Your thinking of the Mirka CEROS with the transformer, I have the DEROS which has no transformer. On the DEROS you have a separate lead were one end is plugged into the tool and the other end to the wall/extractor so theres no wire to replace, basically whats needed is a lead where one end is a plug-it female and the other is a Mirka male that goes into the sander.

put PowerCon Female connector on a new, 3 wire power cord. This must be normal power cord in your country, suitable for watts / amperage of desired use. Length as needed. The significance of the active and neutral wires depends on the type of switch that is fitted in the tool. I don't necessarily disagree with most of what you said, and I ABSOLUTELY agree that I'd prefer the HD power cord come with everything. I just don't see a noticeable difference in the weight.
